Weekly round up (6)

A quick weekly round up…

First, a very warm welcome to Nathan who has joined the class, taking us to our full complement of 30.

Maths this week has been consolidating multiplication and division skills.  There are videos  of all of the methods the children need to know on the blog.  Long division, which we use when dividing by two-digit numbers (using a method we call ‘chunking’), is perhaps the most tricky: long division by chunking.   Next week we are going to explore some quite difficult investigations and problem solving, seeking to deepen understanding of multiplication and division, and see how we get on.

Literacy and science are in separate posts.  We’ll put some of the children’s writing on UFOs on the blog next week.

Mme Paridjanian commends this video to you for learning the days of the week in French through song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiHYehk0tYo

Lastly, please could we have as many old magazines and brochures as possible to use in a collage we will be working on next week – we’re after pictures of housing and greenery.  Thanks!
Have a good weekend

  1. I feel like chunking is really fun but sometimes I struggle a bit when there is a really hard question. But what I think is really helpful is that if if don’t know what to do then just do 10X the number.😀
